World Masters Games-

..yesterday was a shocker day-i was being all antsy and stressed, hadnt read hte thing properly then realised i had to sign in 2 hours before not one, so stu got told to get going NOW and then we kinda just fought for the rest of the day-wasnt really very pleasant.
then it was all up in the air as to whether the heats would be merged into a final(as 4 girls hadnt signed in(had been some injuries from the 4 and 15) anyway it just became a final!
so wake up this morning quite calm really-my goal had been to make the final and i guess by DEFAULT i had, buffet brekky toast and fruit, go to the toilet to do number 2s at least 5 times this morning...lol racing belly! stu even let me get there lots early which meant no fighting cos i wasnt stressed little piglet
10 girls, a few i knew can run 2.20 or less, couple in 2.20s some in,low 2:30s and maybe a couple behind me(one girl got 68 in the 400 so i thought i could take her)
anyway the plan was 37 for the first 200 and take it from there but the girls started off like rocket and at the 200 i was a couple metres behind the 7th girl trying to stik within reach...the time for me was 34.xxx oops but i always planned to go out hard i guess. anyway all the next 200s slowed but in the 400-600 i started working hard and stu told me to push up and i drew level to the mexican girl and passed her(gee i was hurting though) but i couldnt catch the girl about a metre or so ahead of me and i crossed when the time clocked over 2.34.. officially 2.34.99
so the splits look bad but i actually raced well (34.89, 38.96,39.49,41.65)

This was HEAPS faster than i imagined. i have only run near that(in my adulthood) once 2years ago 2.34.95 and really thought it was an anomoly and i would never get back there without consulting each other stu and i had both picked 2.38 as best case scenario so it was REALLY REALLY good time for me that is/. Cant belive the winner-she is AWESOME (she ran 2:12 its just incredible) im in a relay with her tomorrow(4x4)
umm and afterwards i felt so crappy, coughing up a storm and then i dry retched for at least 10mins..stu is like"where have you been, ive been waiting for ages" um in the toilet dear!
so 7th out of 10 is none too shabby i reckon
Thanks has to be given to my coach who really has been training me hard(much to my complaints of course) A light week now before i start back on the track
a wine or two to celebrate(i can run a 400 after a few drinks the night before)

Cant believe i got my GOAL..thats pretty cool! and im less than a second off the time i ran when i was 10 or just turned 11... it now feels like perhaps it COULD be within reach-it is after all ONLY the VERY start of the season

stu and i then toodled off-he can tell you the boring touristy stuff, he took all the photos...lol

Well done Jo, a great time, which you deserve given all the hard training you've been doing!

"2:38 as a best case scenario"! If Stu's that poor a judge, maybe you should be looking for a new coach? Keep the BF, just get a new coach ;)

I was really excited to get your txt on Sat - you can look forward to breaking that 10-11 yrs PB this season - pretty soon I reckon!
