..aaaah to ostrich or not

..i personally think im a world class ostrich-er
..but then again all runners ignore niggles dont they? not sur if ive mentioned it but for over a month ive been having a bit(??) of a pain in the back of my knee...and not sure if associated but since two weeks ago cant do high knee lifts cos my knee kinda buckles....
..havent said much to stu(he already thinks im a whinger)-although when i ICED(i never ice) it on saturday it was a bit of a giveaway
..anyway sports doc today, i mention my knee sore at the back..and Karen is like how long...errr 4weeks or so...quizzial look as to why havent i told her earlier.... dig around..yep thats hte spot.... poplyt..... something or other(tendon in the back of knee)
..okay jo, anti inflamms for a week, no FAST FAST stuff(so a 1500 tomorrow, no 400)..and if same next week, then i have to have a cortisone injection and then NO running for a week or so! what the................... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
anyway she asked me about my upcoming racing sat(last week) tues this week, sat etc and she will try to manage that but not sure..........................

oh and dry needling. SH$t i hate it.i honestly dont know how to describe it(when my back is not as tight, its really not so bad).
ts not like it was anywhere near as bad as that time 2 months ago when i cried, but sheeeeeeesh, let someone shove a knife into your spine and thats about as close to an analagy as i can get..and yes it is ONLY because my back is very tight(yes karens words) and yes i got the look(and the start of a comment before i got all defensive.......) when i told her i did high jump...and again when i said long jump...left out the shot put bit :( she was happy when i told her i got to do a 200m standing start though..and was nice and encouraging with my 200m time :)
basically one side hurt more to go in, and for the first 5 mins on th other side i thought she had punctured something as it SERIOUSLY hurt to breathe.... anyway after 1/2 hour she cam back in.told me she needed to wipe the blood(not a surprise since it had hurt) and then took the needles out..and they hurt to be taken out too...stoooopid dry needling... if only it didnt help...

anyway its over(for one week)
sorry to whinge...i should just suck it up and say nuttin! thats how a real trooper would take it.not feeling very trooper-ish though.. report writing time, very grumpy, sick of my back and in the 'its not fair and i dont want to have this shi%t for the rest of my life" mood!

thats okay -you can tell me to suck it up...thats what i would say to someone who was feeling so frickin sorry for themsleves when really, they have things pretty damn good

..wow tired tired tired and sore

..yep the title pretty much sums it up
i am sooooooooooo tired and my legs feel like i ran a 10km today and im obviously not used to jumping-just about every muscle in my leg is fatigued and sore
had a massage today..not a great idea if competing in two days, but needed some relief... the shins in particualr are not great (still v sore now0

knew yesterday was punishing on the back so hopped in the pool for 45 mins... and umm dry needling....my only hope is NO tears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am dreading it..and what if i cough as she puts it in.... doh

stu and i did a bit if a shop-i was quite restrained really,but then i did spend $450 on carpet( a top up from what the insurance is paying so we get a better carpet)

then reports, tehn jugsaw, then putting grades on paprs and then stu cooked pork chops,masjed potato(OMG i loooooooooooooove mash) asparagus and zucchini

just watching some show on tv now with a couple of wines(no i dont have a couple right now) hehe you silly buggers

shield-and ummmm someone needs to be reminded it is NOT little aths

at little aths, the kids all do a MILLION events
..well someone did a million events

i woke up feeling pretty crappy so knew the 800(my pet event) would be very disappointing so i decided instead to do as many other events as possible(some a bit naughty for my back..but shhhhhhhhhhhhhh)
..started with high jump(should be called low jump) did 1.15-no warm up and wasnt overly trying
then did shot and long jump concurrently-running back and forth between...happy enough with 6.42 shot(5cm off my pb) and long jump was only ever going to be a tiddle and a one off..whihc i did and cos i was talking to the lady actually walked back so it was a NO JUMP(yeah exactly what my back needs) next one about 30cm before the line(i dont measure my run up..lol..i go from anywhere) and it was the worst one ive ever done 3.22 but hten i didnt stretch myself as i dont want to hurt my back.... the first one was HEAPS further!!!! anyway glute was kinda sore after this.... still hadnt had time to do any sort of warm up yet..so jogged a bit and realised i was feeling pretty average
time for the 200 and the girl 2 races in front did a standing start so i cheekily asked if i could..(she had an arm cast) and he's gone..shes got an injury...me too..he narrowed his eyes jokingly-got a medical certificate.... can get one...got a double disc bulge and it REALLY hurts from the blocks..he was very sweet,checked with the other starter and he said i could -woohoo..definitely is slower than a blockie but significantly less pain... surprised it was ok 31.46 and absolutely flew home in the last 100.
then off to the 4x4 relay(i tried DESPERATELY to get out of this but NO DICE!!! :( where just as the girls started , it absolutely POURED down, im waiting in the rain and shivering and it wasnt pleasant-with all this rain i wished i wore my spikes. the wet soggy brooks adrenalines felt like bricks(i was not going flat out,but fastish)
..whew is there much time for a breather...nup not really..off to the 3km
..wasnt racing had decided to 'jog' with a lady.i thought she would do 5.15 at the fastest..nup we sat on 5min/km pace so not hard, but i was breathing harder than i would normally..i do HAVE a bad cold... it wasnt tough but i was glad when it was over 15.02
..and ummmmmmmmmmm geeeeee im tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did do a million events...lol
probs not hte best choice..buttttttttttttttttttttttttttt im a silly sausage at the best of times!

--okay its time to go away

...the cough that is...time to vamoose...head off to sunnier pastures...retire to a better place etc etc

i am WELL over it(well im not-which is the point-poor stu was kept awake for some time as a result last night

anyway i did at least do a set
4x200s the longer break, the 2x200s with 4x150s
200s between 37 and 38.5 and then 400s(ooopsies EDIT 150) were 25,26,26 and the last one stu said to catch the girls in front so caught the couple in front and then went doh,...wonder if he meant the girl who had a 15m head start so worked hard and yelled to her--cmon dont let me past,,,, so she sped up which was good and we crossed together... didnt look at my watch but at the slowest it would be 24.x sec

was NOT getting my breath back between reps(thats the cold!!!)

AND then i felt reaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllly ill...wasnt pretty...but once i got home and took cold and flu tabs i was ok.....(id skip the arvo tabs -bad idea)
then stu and i out for dinner...had pizza oopsies

800 this week- should be okay-disappointed if i dont get sub 2.40 ..... i am well due........

-went to the track..did a couple of laps, felt shite..so decided that no way no how could i do reps, so i went of r a dawdle-and all i can say about it is that it was hard and my stupid head hurts!!!!!!!!!!

pleased and then not pleased- shield comp

-rocked up to meadow glen and was amazed that there was not even a lick of wind.. the 1500s started and by th time the last mens heat was on there was becoming a more than noticeable wind.... bugger bugger bugger
anyway the plan was to start at 90s laps and see how i go. at the 200m i was in LAST place, and then gradually worked my way through.. i ran 90/94/94(but think i may have been slacking off) and then brought the last 300 home in 63 so ran 5.41 which is an 8s improvement from last 1500.
was pretty happy with that and fairly confident i can do better, have a bit of a cough and was not feeling fabbo but felt really strong in the race.
hoeweever, legs did feel tired after and the wind sprung up even more and the 400 was the ugliest i had ever run. seriously i ran a 73 second which is ridiculous for me!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did 69 last time. the start was possibly the worst i had ever done!it hurt twice-not just once as i cam out-grimaced and then ran with legs that had no kick

anyway my sister is unexpectedly over from america(found out on friday) so we are heading off

oh and i pbd in javelin..lol 15ish metres
threw a discus )(badly)
oh and hte 1500 is faster than i ran all season last year and fastest so far(it may be the 2nd fastest since i came back to aths)

..yeah that wasnt ridiculous

...well i was grumpy grump grumpy before hand(i even drove in a separate car frm stu and we left ummm 5mins apart...lol
..anyway set tonight was 4x400 at 1500 pace 90-92 sec, 2min recov, 4x200 at 800 pace 39,70s recov, 4x100 @400 pace walk back recov

so very consistent and CONSIDERING that my leggies felt tired and heavy, i didnt really struggle with this set. yes i was working but it was completely DO-able

got my year9 exams..the little petals are going okay..makes me happy when they go quite well :)
-year 8s are being angels at the moment too(revising)
-its quite funny, im actually quite strict...well i set VERY clear boundaries,...but the boys dont necessarily see it as strict(someone said something to them..and they said no shes not strict(probably cos im FAIR andmost students think strict as being NOT FAIR- they know the boundaries and so try not to cross them... in my reiew(did i say this already) the guy said.... jo I have never seen this b4-you got 100% of kids saying they know their expected behaviour in class on their survey.. lol

anyway watching RUSH..one of my fave shows.... not feeling completely trashed from training...yay..and IT EVEN GOT ME OUT OF MY BAD MOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg stu are you kidding me

stu sent me an email today telling me what the set was..i just about fell off my chair
this is continuous BTW 800m@1500 pace and speed up to 400 at 800 pace -do you have ANY idea how hard that in itself is...its racing 1200m faster than your 1500 pace.. and we were expected to do that 4 times. with a 3min break between reps
i emailed stu telling him it was too hard. he told me it was tough but we would do what we could..i sent about 7 more emails..one which said it was the TOUGHEST set he had ever set, and that i nearly spewed when we do HOT 300s and this is harder so he had better bring the bucket..lol
and I WAS NOT BEING A DRAMA QUEEN- this is like racing 3 x 1500m races within 20 mins

anyway, he came to his senses and decide 600at 1500pace followed by 200 at 800 pace. Even this was EXTREMELY HARD for me that is 92s for 400 and then supposed to be 40s for last 200-couldnt quite maintain into the wind so the first 2 reps were (220s)

then reduced to 500 with 200 faster -i coudlnt manage another one
46,46,(not sure last 300)
then reduced to 1x400 at 1500 pace

...omg miss j was super duper productive today

yep- did soooooooooooooooooo much work at school today-even started writing reports!!!! woohoo
went for a 30min run, just over 5.6kms.... was kinda windy but was very conscious about trying to 'run tall' and have the abs held tight- i might make this a focus during my slower runs

backs a bit so so-to be expected though... leggies a bit tired, never mind

and had yummy blue grenadier with salad for dinner... nice cheapish fish that tastes nice

a short long run

went to the pool today and the poor little leggies were tired i have to say-not surprising really. 40mins only-stu felt sorry for me i think, then a very hurty hurty massage

..and yes Em, 24mins for hte 5km sure did feel a lot harder than it should
..and Ewen, Stu didnt make me do it, i actually chose to, because as a committee member im about to start asking people to do their non preferred events and because i have done it this week, they cant think im a hypocrite for asking. and im thankful he actually ran with me! but i didn enjoy it

stu has now set up our massive tv! its fantastico! good job done by stu, no tantys(there woulda been if id set it up)

shield-and miss jo, what were you thinking

yes i decided to do the team thing today
to say i ran badly in the 800 is an understatement...expected 2.38 ran 2.43 wasnt very happy, but right from the start my legs just felt sluggish, no excuses, just a crappy run
..then off to the 200 where surprisingly i ran quite well 31.36
i couldnt get out of the 4x4 relay even though i tried, so i put my big training shoes on(had a bit of a blister from spikes) and didnt race the 400, but went relatively fast, then straight over to the 5km... why did i decide to do the 5km.... there is a simple answer to that. I am STUPID! had decided i would just run 5min/km pace to 5:10 pace, but stu decided to run with me and he made me go a little faster. By no means racing but i really couldnt have gone faster today.i thought i was going to have to pull out with 3km to go,1km to go,800 to go 500 to go..i was in strugglesville. it was about 27 deg i think, but i was feeling way overheated and absolutely dehydrated. ran a 24:08 which isnt a great run..but hey valuable points for the club
..am way tired now.not long til bedtime and it is only 9:08
.will do my run in hte pool tomorrow(back isnt great) and OMG my 200 start was the worst ive ever done. i couldnt get the block thing on at all so when someone helped me i couldnt change it and just had to have someone elses settings!
ANYWAY CIAO
oh yeah, my budgeting i even worse. we went and bought airconditioning today which costs over $3500 eek but we do need it and it was a bargain. Even stu said we should buy it. if id known i was going to do that though, i probs wouldnt have bought the tv.... oops never mind. the air con is on 24months interest free and im very diligent at payiing monthly. so its only really $150 per month
..oh and hows this i walked behind some seemingly sane man who was standing still, when out of nowhere he did some buttkick and kicked me deadset in the knee.OMG, i can tell you it hurt, the lucky part is he didnt have spikes on

..i loved tonights set

yep i actually said that
200m reps are my all time fave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the plan 3-4 sets of 3x200@ 37s pace- a bit faster than 800 pace with walk back recov(approx 2min) with 3 min recov between sets

the whole first set was in the 37s
second set 1x37s+ 2x36
third-all 36s
fourth-everyone else dropped out except stu and myself- i kinda got yelled at-not directly but stu was heard to retort to someone who said -cant beat your gf eh, "well shes not running the pace shes supposed to) yep i was very naughty and ran 35.5 on the tenth rep which is NOT what the set is about(and i know that-stu can run heaps faster but we are trying to learn pacing for the first 200m of hte 800). i put my head down and let stu pace the next two cos he is spot on and im shite!
the next two were done in 37s which is what it was supposed to be


yes -i did not complain(i LOVE this set, suits me to a tee) felt good felt strong, felt controlled.... aim for sat sub 2.40-have NEVER EVER done that at shield comp before

performance review at work tomoz..yep def need a few more wines..lol

last night i didnt run but did an elongated pilates at home which i then tacked on to: walking lunges up and down hte hall(omg didnt my legs feel it today!) squats, one legged squats, military press, 2x15 pushups and a few other things too...good gal jo... oh and ive lost a full 1kg in the last week. down to 61.5 which usually i feel like im nearly skinny at, but alas alak, i still feel way too chunky! i think im startin g to feel a bit more serious about losing weight so i can run faster. its less than a second i need in the 800m, and whilst i can never take the 1st girl, the 2nd girl may(and only loosely may-she ran 2.29) may be in reach, if i eat well and train well-sorry im talking about the vic masters champs which is in march. oh and my all time pb(when i was 12) for the 1500 is 5:28 so i wouldnt mind giving that a crack in the next two years either-although i dont see that as very likely!

errr. go get the dictionary little miss

okey dokey.. so miss j put herself on a budget yesterday..YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway apparently i do not understand the meaning of it.. i accidentally ummmm errrr accidentally bought a big freaking TV... lol its 42 inch,5 year warranty, full HD and its way cool, and i didnt mean to go into teh shop but it was the biggest bargain EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i did even ring stu to see if he coul curb my enthusiasm, but he kinda told me that it sounded like a great idea.so ummmmm yeah i spent $1300 hehe
anyway yesterday set was in the hea heat heat
plan was 6x400at just faster than 1500 pace approx 90s for me-but i was kinda running with stu and B(10 year old) and the reps were
91,87,87,87,87,87 and in that last i thought i mustve slowed so tried to tack on with stu 85s

at least it was a standing recovery. i nearly spewd after the 5th rep-bit too fast for me really

then friends over for dinner...was lovely(theyre great fun) but at 11.45 i piked and went to bed! i had to get up at 6am! and besides by that time id already spilt all my wine over everyone...yep actually did... lol

..hot hot hot

okay so today was damned hot!
i wasnt planning on running outdoors, i had planned to do a water run, but when i got htere and asked if there were lap lanes, they said yes. when i went a nd asked the life guard, he said yes for the next ten minutes only so i was kinda p'd off so i went back to the desk and made them refund my money!
oh speaking of refunds, did i mention the other day i went to a servo which seemed to be having issues,only put in $28 and hten had to drive to hte next servo as the first one had give me ZERO petrol-still trying to get them to reimburse me. I have proof. The supposed amount of petrol i bought plus hte next lot is OVER the capacity of my car-and it also happened to 3 other people
sigh- yes these things ALWAYS Happen to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so no wate run meant i had to run outside. OMFG it was hot-still well over 30 deg when i went, tried to skulk around in the shade but there really wasnt that much shade... so 30mins in the heat and i didnt melt like the wicked witch from the west which was a PLUS for me...lol
the year 12 methods paper was a little tricky for hte poor lads today!
oh and i wrote the year 8 common test for torrow and there is an evacuation, yep you guessed it RIGHT in the middle of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol..so today was spent racing around converting it into two papers of shorter duration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol, of freaking course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG no sunday run!

i honestly cant remember(barrng sickness) that i havent done a sunday long run(or run of sorts)

went to marks 50th-fell asleep in teh car on the way home and didnt set the alarmand um didnt make the yys at 8am. Was going to go for a water run but wholst waiting for stu to take all 3 boys to little As relay, kalena came over to me and i was like, gee never realised his arms were so fat, looked at teh other one,,,crap, its just well swollen so ive marched him over to stu(and its hot) and stu's said well he needs to bewatched and we decided he had to be taken to the dr..poor little tyke-fortunately it wasnt hurting him at all... so i took K(and tried not to freak out about his giant arm!)
waited for 50mins then got into the dr, he said it was a bite...derr fred!!!!! lol nd gave a prescription cos otherwise it might become cellulitis which would be a real problem...lol... this funny because i am the CELLULITIS queen!!!!!!! as if i dont know what that means!!!!!!!!!!! recall cellulitis on the leg, finger and arm and certain dr's freaking out.really hoping he doesnt get it
so no chance to run in the morning-but dont think i was overly motivated anyway really. cos i coulda gone in hte afternoon and just didnt!
bit of a shock tho-no sunday run...fancy that having said that, prior to stu, i never DID sunday runs and its been a tough running week
and my bf is cooking me chicken skewers and a big big salad yay! i love salad,i could eat it every single day for the rest of my life(as long as could have meat or something with it-cos it DOESNT fill me up at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think ill keep him...lol

..okerly dokerly
my choice was to go outside and run in the heat of hte day(about 11am) or to do water running. Given my heel is SUPER niggly at the moment, and hte back of my knee is also very sore, i decided a water run woudl be better. and it wasnt crowded surprisingly and it was actually veryenjoyable. And yes, that was me uttering those words, no gremlins have overtaken my computer!

and we are now of to OP to see one of stu's athletes run the 400m final and then off to Michelle and Marks :)

whew, i will be happy campers when my year 12 exams(for the boys) finish on mo nday..i had ummm 7 boys come and see me throughout the day-pretty busy really!

anyway la night did a light 30min run(5-5.5km) slow, the first 20mins average but then the last 10 felt good...legs tired from day before, kinda sore behind the knee

then off to karen for dry needling,...miss j was SCARED, but karen said she was happy and yes i could do hill repeats and whilst my back is very tight for a normal person, for me it was quite good,..
so dry needling once a fortnight on a semi permanent basis

then a track set tonight,,, sounds easy doesnt it (i thought it did!!!)
300,200,200 with 100m walk recovery of 3 sets at 800m pace,,,, yeah not really that easy(and it was slightly faster than 800pace)
the reps are as below
59,38,37, 57,37,38 57,38,34high
tuckered out little gal, then off to dinner where the service was a joke...the pooor bar tenders got yelled at by customers and other waiting staff, felt bad for them...mind you stu's dinner was forgotten, they mized up our bill, and we had to wait quite some time for things to be rectified, but we did at least manage to be pleasant!!!!

anyway RUSH is on, a bit blah today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all a-flutter

not really.... have just put on best and somehow missed my wins and places...oh well lots of mystery bets!

sundays run was ..like WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my legs hated me after hte day before. Even stu said that his legs werent happy so he only made us run for 48mins! worst run in a whle but it was always going to be that way(i had been drinking from 1pm til about midnight hte day before..actually all was good except for hte legs

rest day yesterday...woohoo and i was wanting to run but stu said no! OMG are we in topsy turvy world or what

and then today: kjiller set
hills reps 6x60s with small walk down then jog recovery(and YOU all know how much i love an active recovery NOT) gee it hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway, i reckon my next 1500 will be significantly faster than my last since i have been doing endurance/strength work now for oh um 2weeks...lol
anyway maybe ill have a trifecta come through(mystery bet) and then feel rich for about 2 days....lol
