first run in over a week

..decided to try a set last night.
cant say it was comfortable, but i did get through the session.
6x200s- first rep i was concerned and went through in 38s(aiming for 36s) the first few steps of each rep was ugly but it did get better bout 10mtres in-just couldnt get up on the toes properly
next few reps
36s, 35.8, 35.3, 34.7, 36.7 sore afterwards but not too bad, feels niggly now rather than injured. physio today, she went in hard, all taped up, and know now i will get through the 800

have an action plan for if it is really sore after the 800, and still allows me to race :)

...maybe a name change is in order

my pseudonym of runjanerun perhaps should be changed to swimjaneswim.... sigh
..a water run today :( 35 mins but i feel quite fit and strong at the moment.and it did give me a chance to think through each of my races.
IF my achille comes good for the race,(and no gle force winds, im fairly confident of breaking my time when i was 11 in the 800, my all time pb in the 15 was when i was 12(+3months) and i ran 5.28.0 i may get to have a crack at that after all..thought it was well outta reach but who knows........
dont think i can run faster than the 65.1 in the 400 though!

anyway, the order is- nd the 8 first is a god send, thats the ONLY one i didnt make my goal for the year!(and its y pte event)
what i have decided though is even if i dont crack the 2.34.1 in perth for whatever reason, i am VERY confident that IT will get done next year if not this! and it HAS already been a succesful season(more than I EVEN expected and im a hard task master!)

..no running-stupid achilles

..yep racing next friday and there has been no official running

still hurt to walk monday, went to my physio, but very happy with how my bak pulled up
tues went to the pool and di my set in there, 2x400,3x300(timed efforts) worked pretty hard, wednesday went for a 45min ride(coulodnt face the pool 2 days in a row)
thursday-went to the trck to 'give it a go' tight in the warm up, drills could attempt, strides, still felt like i was limping and no pushoff(only did 2) then went on the stationary bike. same set as in the pool...worked VERY hard
friday-school break up woohoo! am freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! yay
today-going to the pool.will see how it feels for the run tomorrow

..well i know how this is going to come across... unappreciative, always wanting more...etc etc

well i had myself convinced tht i was going to get n all time pb today. i thought probably 2.32 :(
didnt happen
i was almost a DNS, my achillles did not pull up well, couldnt do my strides -in fact did 3 half hearted, flat footed ones cos i couldnt get up onto my toe but thought it might come good like it did int he 400...ummm not really, felt it the whol way, was kinda running lopside as my right foot was very flat for the whole run and quite simply it hurt the whole way, even still i shouldnt have allowed someone to overtake me in the last 30m...oh and it was a bit windy too which was a bit annoying,but cant complain cos yesterdya was absolutely perfect
..anyway ran 2.34.74 which is an adult pb...so yes II KNOW i should be happy(and im sure i will be lately) but at teh moment i am very shitty.... a) because my stupid achilles is shit and its only got 2 weeks to get better(12 days) before i race in perth and b) because i shouldve beaten that stupid time from when i was 11 and c) 1.5secs was the difference btw 1st and 3rd and i ended up with 3rd.
so yes tell me to STFU and get over myself, i know i know
if i hadnt thought id run so much faster, i would be ecstatic with an adult pb

last two days in summary
silver 1500m 5.29 7 sec adult pb
gold 400m 65.1 1.1 all time pb
bronze 800 2.34.74 adult pb(.21 sec)

oh and my freebie-if you do 3 events you get a fourth free- (bit embarassing really) no one else was in it so i got silver with a pitiful throw(it was my 2nd all time best effort though) 4kg shot is kinda heavy you know. 6.59m

running well

woke up feeling good today, leggies were happy(a little tight in the achilles but its been like that for a week, no worries
1500 was the first race up. previously as an adult have only gone sub 5.40 twice and that was the previous 2 1500m races. anyway 3 in my age but we were racing against lots of others. anyway 5.36 two weeks ago so anything under that would be fine. the first girl was too fast for me so i let her go and sat on the back of the 2nd girl(not worried about times, just racing) anyway did of course check times, fast first 400, then 2.56 fr the first 800(thought it may have been afster as i felt like i was working), then i noticed the next 200 was slightly off, but still sat behind the 2nd till the 1200 where it was 4.06 (which is what i went through for the 1200 last time) so i decide to take off..i um ran an 83 sec last lap and ran 5.29.52 HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE 7s adult pb and came 2nd- only 1s away from my junior burger time which i didnt even consider as a spossibility of beating ever! now it is in the goals!!!!

..then i noticed how bad my achilles was. wsntvery happy with it. anyway had a rest(was limping bit) went for an extended warm up, couldnt really put the foot down properly(couldnt get up on the toes), so was a bit concerned, but figured its only a 400.

Anyway, 2 girls in my age group, she was on my outside so i decided i would try and stick with her(ive never beaten her) was doing well at 200-same distance apart, still a bit behind after the 300 and started working really hard into a slight breeze-almost got to her she kicked alittle drew level again and just got her before the line. It must have been a good race, because i had a few people id never met come and speak to me about it. achilles held up during the race, limping a LOT afterwards. have iced, had an icebath and put the 'tens machine' on it.
ohhhh did you want to know the time...well i have run under 69 s so far this season(all been too close to the 1500) nd my previous pb was 66.26, i ummmmm ran 65.1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG that is a huge pb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway i dont think im ever going to get stu to focus ont eh 400, cos we focussed ont eh 15/8 this year and pb'd the 15 and 4!

tired tired, wondering if stu would let me have a piccolo of champers?

..a tiring week........

have been training hard for it, have barely drunk alcomohol, none last two nights, but did have a couple after each of the two parent eacher nights this week :(
-super tired but will be having another early night so hoping to hav a spring in the step tomorrow
1500 and 400 tomorrow, so ill report in with how i went even if its a quickie :)

..sluggish today

..picked up my car(via a bike ride) after leaving it at the venue sat night(presenttion night for little As-no boys in tow so we decided not to drive home.
then as back was EXTREMELY sore after the tt-ing of the day before did a water run instead of on the road..only 30mins as im in full taper
.parent teacher night last night. 7.15 in he morning til 9 at night is a long time to be at school :( so tired today, nd was sluggish as all hell on the track today
really struggled to even do the bends and straights.. so did 2 lots of 4 laps nd 2km warm up cool down plus drills strides etc so probs close to 5.5 kms

am going to have an early night as i have ANOTHER parent teacher night tomorrow night :( i cant tell you how exhausting two in a week is
i think ill be in bed at 9 tonight...barely awake

yummy pasta tongight, green pasta with spinach and ricottoa in it(from the deli)mmmm, stu doesnt notice any difference but i thought it was lovely
nyway-have to hang out our running clothes then off to beddy byes, cya chicos and chicolettes

..timetrialling

... okey dokey
i think i am offically ready for masters states next week. was a little concerned if i didnt run well that it would fool around with my head, but cut down the alcohol this week, a day or two with nine(EDIT-NONE) and the others only 2 drinks(three last night)
anyway i asked stu if we could be there a little earlier as i take a while to warm up (i need almost an hour for my warm up)
the tts were going to be a 600m timetrial(for teh 800), 300m(for the 400)
anyway 600 plan was to go out hard which i did
200in 33, 400 in 70(!) and then the 600 in 1.49.39 - that is 4s faster than i ran at the world master games so it bodes well!
then 15min recovery(which is not much for wobbly legs) then the 300
took a while for the leggies to get going- finished in 48.33 (happy with that)
then stu asked me to do two lap cool down with bay and le...when i finished, he goes right, put on your spikes and go do a 200!
..ran a really good 200 30.87 which if you dont count my own timing from last week is a PB

am tired now though.. 3 hard races in a very short frame of time

..stye central

..was at a lifesaving carnival today...boys did very well getting silver!
i was exhausted at the end of the day. got to training late, felt like rubbish, tweaked the ankle in the first stride through but it was okay.
set was 3x36s for 200 and then steadily fster
-the plan was to be much more disciplined this week.
first 3 reps were 35s
then 33high,33low and 32.5 but had to duck to the loo after the 4th rep, was having some tummy issues
so i did the set pretty much as i was told to

NOW to the title.i have not ONE but TWO styes in my right eye. what do you put on a stye? it is mighty sore too and it mkes you more aware of how often you actually blink!
tired little pussycat going to bed shortly-will try to stay up til 9.30...lol

..hmmmm

..well my friend's are supposed to side with me.... obviously you think i was being a brat...perhaps i was...(well i was and i know it but plththththththt)
but ...well thats my perogative really...lol (and also youre all friends of stu's too...d'oh!)

anyway i WAS kinda annoyed last night and i guess morsey hit it on the head, my boys(year 12s) are being particularly naughty and annoying the crapola out of me

..and also most of the time i will take instruction, but i kind of like to know a set beforehand so i can get my head ready, if i know in advance then its fine-i know, i know, im flogging a dead horse............... and Ewen do agree with the separate rules, but......... then i am an adult............. so there is quite a clear distinction between us anyway-im old and they are all kids under 15 and used to different rules for kids and adults

so this weekend i get to do two timetrials a 300m for my 400 and a 600 for my 800. when i ran teh 3.34 i ran 1.54 for the 600 or 1.55 so would like to hit that and last week i ran 51 in a rep for the 300 so would like to hit 50
did 35 mins pool running.no other way to describe the back than shite today(and obviusly i looked that way-3 people commented)-its funny how you look pained when you are in pain :(
took a naprosyn 750mg for brekky and quite frankly it really didnt feel like it kicked in at all, fortunately the water run helped,yep helped..stupid water runnning is GOOD for something other than making me want to throttle splashy mcslpashies!!!!!!!!!!
now im having my other anti inflamm...yep having a wine -and NOT feeling guilty

excursion tomoz(hve to leave home at 6am), missing my yr 12s which would usually make me feel bad(misread my timetable when i agreed) but they can suck it up bc im not happy with them at the moment(they are behaving like yr 7s or 8s)

..training schmaining

..shocker day at work didnt put me in a good mood
then at the track and teh set was 2 400s at 77 then 3x300s at 57s.
stu told us we had to not use watches, no scratch that, take them off, which really annoyed me, im happy to not time it but why cant i leave my stupid watch on. he forgets that im an adult sometimes and dont really like being told what to do to the nth degree

anyway i got annoyed and he cracked the shits and is like...so dont train with us then..... the thought did cross my mind to discontinue my training at that particualar moment, i can tell you

anyway the reps were 80,80,55,57,55 it was a shit session, didnt make me feel less grumpy, just made me feel grumpier

...hmmm jojo taks a tumble

..okay so pretty much anyone who reads my blog will be completely UNSURPRISED by the heading...........................
i am a complete dufus
drive to bright friday night, then sat am do a 30min run which included 2x500m efforts at approx 4.05min/km pace
then frock up and off to a lovely wedding at a winery. wine was lovely. had quite a few and then really hit the dancefloor(a bit too literally unfortunately)
stu even had a nice dance with me too which was great :)
anyway was twirling around with a gf and when she let go of me i kept going and fell backwards and hoit my head super hard(big bruise behind the ear, big bruise on the arm, bruise on my shoulder and knee and felt a bit stooooopid really
couldnt run the next day cos hte ear/neck was too sore.
anyway enough said about the fall. lets leave it at IM a dufus

ran this morning, 8kms in 42.30 and then off to a chees factory and then a drive home and OMG how much do i hate driving in the rain when yu can BARELY see in front of you. fortunately not all like that

anyway id better take a look at my budget, do some hwk and try not to have the shakes from alcohol withdrawl....lol

...one of my fave reps sets

..okay so my pacing is COMPLETE crap...lol

but when i heard my rep set was 6x200@36/37, its an easy set. 4.3kms at school-very very slowly-good god the boys cant even run the 4.3kms
once i got to the track, my legs felt tired, but that was just adjusting to kickstarting them again
-anyway first rep 35 something,second 35something,stu givng me the control jo and celeste, no faster, 34(changed into spikes cos the track was wet(sprinklers-dont ask!) and it was slippery)
34 high, 33 low, 30.85-the last one was supposed to be flat out...ummmm thats a 200m PB...LOL and even if you add 0.22 for hand timing, its still a PB
how cool!
but stu wasnt happy with my middle reps, went too fast which was not what the set was about, but its hard when other people go to overtake me and i know IM faster than them... very undicsciplined,,,,but the speed felt good i have to say
looking forward to some good times at the masters, maybe the 400 isnt as bad as i thought it would be.... we have not spent any focus on it this year AT all, the focus is 8/15. it will be extremely interesting if i can run the 66.x that i ran lst year

oh did i mention im a sookly lala and didnt run yesterday. well actually i ran outa time cos i went to physio. and im buying a tens machine-costs about 3oo dollars but it send s a current between the two pads which should help with pain relief and reduce the need for anti inflamms

the core belt is extremely good-am wearing a LOT actually

oh yeah and for the wedding we are attending, have narrowed the dress down to 3, will take all3 and hten decide....lol

..sliding doors

Can someone PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE explain to me the thought process behind starting the 14/8km runners/walkers and then after the last walker, wait two minutes and start the 3km runners! serioulsy, 4 people abrest and you CANNOT even run on the frickin path, i was dodging weaving , jumping off track and going through nearly too small passes, on the way there and BACK(it was aloop out and back)
seriuosly, start the 3km runners first!!!!!!!!!!! well be back before the walkers even get a km!
anyway, i was kinda pumped for the race as i havent done a fun run in a while. and i was pretty sure i wouldnt be anywhere near last in a community fun run.
..well i took off pretty fast and found myself in the top 8 or so of the race(including men and little tackers) which is a NOVEL experience for me.
I noticed a female ZOOM past me and i was like well she's too fast for me, but kept her in eye ball sight, she was probs 30m ahead of me (slightly more) at the turn around point, my legs were starting to get a little tired cos i was working hard, didnt enjoy the small hill(and i mean small but it felt big,
anyway startied gaining on the girl in front and was trying but no kick in the leg whatsoever, onto the footy field and just couldnt get her. she beat me by 5s which ws only about 15m

so the overall winner was on the oval when i was so hear him being anounced, came in 5th overall and 2nd female.... (the standard wasnt great obviously if im second...lol

BUT whilst it said 13.31, the course was long and i actually ran 4.13.4 min kms which would be 3km in 12.43 which would be a massive pb(not that i can claim it though, official time is 13.31(others also measured it at 3.2) so with all the dodging weaving, its quite a good run by me i reckon(yep-miss never happy with her run, was HAPPY with her run...could also be cos its not really my distance!)

anyway...to the title of sliding doors
this winter season is the season that shouldve occurred 2 seasons ago. i had run 2.34 at the masters and had had a good first few months of the season before i kersplatted on the ground and quite literally tore my knee apart resulting in crutches stictches and a lot of feeling sorry for myself-
well in the sliding door fashion im in almost exactly the same spot,
2,34 at the masters, kms in jan/feb within a few kms of each other- this season WILL be the season i shouldve had.
thats quite gratifying really.it didnt happen two years ago but i am finlly back in that form. one fo the most upsetting things back then was that i was in the best form i had EVER been in
.
My goal then was to break 45mins for 1okm but have already done so will have to set some realistic but HARD goals.
Last year i pbd most races by quite a bit. If i can pb more than half my races, i think thats quite a good goal

ill have a chat to stu, but he always thinks i can run faster than i can. He thinks i can do 5.32 1500, the boy is in la-la land
3 weeks til the masters-am excited

and well done to GB who achieved her gol of sub 15 for 3kms and it was 3,2!
