...hard to get up in the morning

..struggling to get up early again, it will sort itself out shortly i spose

did 35 mins pretty hard on the wind trainer(thanks em) yesterday- em do you have a mountain bike, i can only get it to press against one wheel, but there is still quite a bit if pressure from that

today trained the Xcountry boys, then did a 35min set of reps on the bike.but stopped at 35, just feeling it a bit..could be hte physio work i had done yesterday

physio very pleased with how much it has progressed, the words thats 'really good' were uttered by her, significnt progress..... etc
still not ready for running of course, still a slight limp but def getting closer :)

BIG day tomorrow- out the door 6.30, work, train the boys after school, off to the track and on the bike(may skip this dep on the achilles) and then stu and i are off to an hour and half bikram yoga-its gunna be HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they hve the room at 39 degrees or something!!!

dennis the menace

i really am a dennis the menace.
we went for a ride this morning for stu to meet his training grp, nd whilst crossing the road, i didnt counter in a bump or something and i fell forward hitting myself on hte nobby bit below the handlebar..OMG i was in soooooooooo much pain, i got to the other side and then jumped off the bike and wallowed on the floor for a bit....lol im sure cars were looking at me oddly
oh yeah and look out kidlets or ill knock you over too!

i was riding along and slowed greatly as there was a little girl on a trike(her dad a bit behind) anyway she veered left so i went around on the right but then she veered violently right and ive screeched on my brakes and the little tacker came off her bike...she wasnt realy scratched or anything but i was so close to running her over-she was practically under my bike. ive turned around to her dad and im like- im really sorry, and hes going No, no i saw it, you couldnt do ANYTHING she just rode into you. (and then i did hear him telling her to ride straight...lol)

i dont like to think what wouldve happened if i hadnt slowed to a crawl.. anyway thats one of the reasons i dont like paths so i jumped onto the road for a bit. rode for 24kms altogether

..3 seasons out of four

it is now official
my body obviously does not like cross country. 3 seasons out of four, i have been unable to start the cross country season
2007- hurt my back in april
2008- on crutches after falling over a chain in april
2009-woohoo got to start
2010-miss the first 2 races due to achilles :( not happy jan,
i know Em can empathise

anyway, went to a nearby physio today, she doesnt think it is torn, but was quite unimpressed as i was telling her the story. anyway she seemed pretty good and i now have to see her twice a week for a bit
4 weeks NO RUNNING, so i am out of my denial phase thinking i would run next week. i came home and wanted to buy a spin bike but stu wouldnt let me......
she wants me to ice every day, some stretching and she queried me over my ankle on that side(i sprained bith medial and lateral concurrently a few years ago) nyway its very weak apparently.
oh and i am ridiculously tight in the calves and feet etc

so im a bit grumpy and trying to work out how i will fit every thing in
training every day either in the water or on the bike, PLUS two physio appts per week, plus a massage, plus training the boys 3 days per week plus working saturday morning, plus trying to do some homework. its going to b a VERY busy time for miss jo

..walking again..sort of

..gooness me your arm get exhausted on crutches(we also did QUITE a bit of walking around

so where was i up to- okay had one of the most brillint days in fremantle..but had abit of a tanty on the way home..lol we hd to walk a LOT that day... i was being grumpy and needing to rest every few minutes and stu thought it would be funny to video me... i thought it was funnier when i hit him in the belly with my crutches haha
-then monday swan valley river cruise, way cool
-then tuesday we went to rottnest island, i dumped the cructhes for the day so i could ride around the isalnd....um i thought it would be EASY riding.... it was kinda hard work on crappy bikes and constantly undulating hills! we did a LOT of riding before we got sidetracked at the pub on the way home and got quite drunk, nother great day :)-stu was VERY drunk
-wed -went shopping t hrbour town, stu was soooooooooooooooo hungover, it was hysterical...bought some running stuff, in particualr, these cool racing socks that have (deliberately) got lots of little holes in thems..to aerate them

then home YAY, and been doing homework.
achilles is OKAY, amd walking slowly, the crutches really do mke a big difference to how quickly it recovers
okerly dokerly and my healthy eating officially starts on monday(i did put on 1kg last week-and with NO running in the next week or so,,,,,gotta be careful

...the title is censored ...............................

okay dokey

i have been prone to some bad decisions in my time. i hate it more when i knew in advance that i shouldnt have done something

my achilles was REALLY sore after yesterday, limping sore

i hurt my achilles two weeks ago in the 1500, i then raced the 400, making it worse, then ran a very painful 800. i then was unable to run for over a week and then i got in one set(which hurt) and then couldnt complete a set two days before the nationals

so back to sore after yesterday. i iced, anti inflammed -did everything i could do

this morning i was limping and couldnt walk properly. of course the sensible decision wouldve been to not run, OF course it would have been

..so limped to the stadium, tried to warm up(it felt like a plier was attached in a very harsh manner to my achilles) and that was running super slow. couldnt do the strides properly at all, and knew it wouldnt be pleasant.

Somehow managed to hit the first lap in the time i was looking for but it was all downhill from there. im sorry if this sounds like an excuse but seriously, foot couldnt push off properly, in a windy and horrible race that i hated every second of, i ran 25 sec slower than two weeks ago(and i havent lost THAT much fitness) so a HIDEOUS time for me(slowest of the season) and in pain.

went in to the sports first aid to buy some tape and they forced me up on the bed.
they were not happy i ran...and then there were three of them...OMG its more than twice the size of the other one, OMG look at this massive bulge, etc etc...
jo: please youre starting to get me worried,
sportstrainers: you should be worried, achilles are risky and this is not good
jo; so no running tomorrow(kinda tongue in cheek)
...errr they didnt like this joke i can tell you
-told to get crutches, until when? until you can walk properly and not hobble terribly like you are now...(oh and NO alcohol-like hell!!!!)
and then they blamed stu for letting me run which ws quite funny...a room full of women and no men,it was gang up central, i agreed with them laughingly, but as he said, no one would have been able to stop me running
...and then we started the great CRUTCHES search.... do you know how hard it is to BUY crutches, why not hire them, i hear you ask............... cos im an outsider, an interloper, god forbid NOT a VICTORIAN,,,,lol i m kidding its not because of that, but you do not hire out to a non resident(i can understand that) but OMG
anyway did a ring around, got excited by the pharmacy who yes sells hem.. woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
get on the bus then walk very slowly(trffic construction so the bus STOPS and does not continue) go into a random chemist, no love, we can have them in a day or two.....ummmmmm oh thats right you DO usually know 2 DAYS IN ADVANCE of hurting yourself.......aaaaaagh)
keep walking (SLOWLY) get to the 'golden' chemist..and they bring the crutches over...look big-ummmm theyre for people who are fricking 5foot 10 or taller aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhh
woulda been handy to know that before hand
call around a few more chemists...no only hire,no cant hire to you, sorry,

finally get one, "we have a 2nd hand one your size",
"no problem ill take it",
"okay ...do you know where this is"......... no, from vid...then long convoluted(like this post...lol) way of walking there................." errrrr is there a train"..... "oh yes, one stop then walk up the st!" yep
then get the crutches, forgot how much they hurt the stupid arms(sorry arms i know you didnt do anything wrong), and now own some for the next time i do something stupid.......
only took about 3 hours or so to get them!!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun than sightseeing in fremantle which WAS the plan (we are going tomorrow now)

oh my new philsophy on whether to run when injured or niggled
-if u are limping whilst walking, miss jojo is NOT(and it is in writing now) allowed to run.

oh yeah it was gold(which is embarassing) today cos there were no other competitors!

sorry about the essay slash vent slash therapy slash self indulgent dribble

..a medal and a sore achilles

..i guess its a good state of affairs when i run a 2.37 and am bitterly disappointed with the time!
during the 2008/9 track season, i didnt even crack a 2.37, the fastest i ran was 2.38!
..anyway wasnt overly happy with the fact that it was WINDY-stu calls it breeze, but i can tell you they werent great conditions, i wouldve been surprised if i crracked the 2.34(although there were people who ran pbs...suzy cole(40) ran an australian record 2.10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by herself into the wind and without a track break for 18 months!!!!!!!!!! and i thught i was ready for a break

anyway i ran 2.37.6 and got the gold medal in the rather depleted 35-39 age group, but a national medal is a national medal(and i did have to beat someone to get it), achilles is sore, had a 10-15min mssage on it, she was palpating the achilles and commented on the difference in strength between the two(its no excuse for the time though!)
anyway 1500 tomorrow will be difficult- and even more so the 400,am icing now, about to jump in the very cold pool once stu gets back from his run, then take an anti inflamm, then put the tens machine on it...
sigh and then after sunday NO running AT all(not even in the water my mean coach told me today) :( :( for a couple of weeks

its 5 oclock and IM HUNGRY(cos my body thinks its 8 oclock) and im going to have a wine, the most natural anti inflamm and i dont care that i shouldnt the night before a race. im not in the same form i was in 2 weeks ago- i think its a bit mental- states were my focus, i didnt stick to healthy eating nd i didnt lessen off my drinking s much before the ntionals s i did for the states

...eeek racing today...bit nervous

i didnt post on wed after my supposed set, because i was a little upset/grumpy and in denial.

I was not able to complete the set on wedas my achilles was toooooo sore, hurt during the strides and hte drills. quite uncomfortable so i pulled hte pin.

Flight to perth was bumpy and i am a nervy flyer att he best of times...lol we had brekky on the plane and when we got to perth and it was about midday in vic we were hungry again so we went to have lunch but as it was only 9am in perth we had to have brekky...lol

then we traipsed round town for a bit, got the bus to hte stadium, picked up my tee etc, got off on the way back, got ourselves a bit muddled and spent about half hour to get back to what should have been a 5min walk!

Then we waited as log as we could for dinner(about 6pm) which was 9pm our normal time, and didnt take stu anywhere particualrly nice, just the restaurant??? downstairs, nd tried to stay awake til 9.30 perth time

very long day since we got up at 4am vic time.

anyway racing in about 5.5hours eeek
